About Missing Linkz - The Story Behind Our Brand
What is the Stoned Ape Theory?
The Stoned Ape Theory, proposed by renowned ethnobotanist Terence McKenna in his 1992 book "Food of the Gods," suggests that psilocybin mushrooms played a pivotal role in the rapid evolution of human consciousness, language, and culture.
According to this hypothesis, when our early hominid ancestors descended from the trees onto the African savannas approximately 100,000 years ago, they encountered and consumed psilocybin-containing mushrooms growing in the dung of cattle herds they followed.
McKenna proposed that the consumption of these mushrooms at various doses could have: enhanced visual acuity (helping with hunting), increased sexual arousal (promoting reproduction), and at higher doses, triggered profound mystical experiences that may have sparked the development of language, art, and religious thought.
Who Was Terence McKenna?
Terence Kemp McKenna (1946-2000) was an American ethnobotanist, mystic, psychonaut, lecturer, author, and advocate for the responsible use of naturally occurring psychedelic plants. He was known for his unique ideas on topics such as psychedelics, plant-based entheogens, shamanism, metaphysics, alchemy, language, philosophy, culture, technology, and the origins of human consciousness.
His most famous works include "Food of the Gods: The Search for the Original Tree of Knowledge" (1992) and "The Invisible Landscape" (co-authored with his brother Dennis McKenna). McKenna's lectures and ideas continue to influence psychedelic culture, consciousness research, and brands like Missing Linkz today.
Our Mission
Missing Linkz was founded to celebrate this fascinating intersection of evolution, consciousness, and psychedelic philosophy. We believe that fashion can be more than just clothingβit can be a conversation starter, a statement of beliefs, and a work of art.
Our name, "Missing Linkz," refers to the evolutionary "missing link" between apes and modern humansβa gap that the Stoned Ape Theory attempts to explain through the transformative power of psychedelic experiences.
π± Sustainability Commitment
All Missing Linkz products are made using sustainable print-on-demand manufacturing. This means each item is created only after you order it, eliminating excess inventory and reducing textile waste. We're committed to eco-friendly fashion that doesn't compromise on quality or creativity.
